OVERVIEW
The Intra-company visa permits an individual to stay or come to the UK and work under an eligible employer based in the UK.
Types of Intra-company Visa
Intra-company Transfer visa
If you are being transferred to any role in the UK by your employer, then you can apply for this visa. Your duration of work with your overseas employer needs to be more than 12 months.
Intra-company Graduate Trainee visa
If you are a transferee to the UK for either a managerial or specialist role, as a part of some graduate training program, then this is the visa you apply for. The stipulation is at least 3 months of prior work with your overseas employer
Criteria for Eligibility
- To be paid a minimum of £23,000 to qualify for an Intra-company Graduate Trainee visa and a minimum of £41,500 for an Intra company Transfer visa
- To only work a job which is amongst the listed occupations
- To be employed in a pre-approved role by the Home Office
- To have your employer provide a sponsorship certificate, which explains the role you will work in
What is the Validity Period of Start-up Visa?
For Intra-company Transfer visa:
- 5 years
- The maximum allowed time to stay and its time period
- The time mentioned on your sponsorship certificate plus 14 days
For Intra-company Graduate Trainee visa:
- 12 months
- The time mentioned on your sponsorship certificate plus 14 days
- The maximum allowed time to stay and its time period
Application Process
The process to apply is online and depends on the following:
- Switching to a different visa, while you are in the UK
- While you are in the UK, you are applying for an extension
- If you are coming to the UK, from outside of the UK
Cost of the Process
It is 3 months before the day you are joining at work, but extra time is needed if you
need to have an appointment for the process.
Decision Process
After online application, the decision time is:
- For individuals based out of the UK, its 3 weeks
- For individuals based in the UK, its 8 weeks
What you can/cannot do
You can:
- Study
- Bring in your dependents
- Work additional jobs for up to 20 hours
- Travel internationally and come back to the UK
- Work a job under the sponsorship certificate
You cannot:
- Switch Jobs without changing your visa status
- Avail many benefits; State Pension
- Settle in the UK indefinitely
