What documents do you need?

  • a valid passport or other document that shows your identity and nationality.
  • your tuberculosis test results if you’re from a country where you have to take the test.
  • If you’ve had an award or scholarship to study in the UK in the last year, you’ll also need written permission to apply from the agency or government that granted it.

If you’ve won any of the eligible awards, the Home Office will look at publicly available information (such as the award organisation’s website) to confirm that you’ve won. You’ll only be asked for evidence of your win if they cannot find this.

What are the requirements?

Depending on the field you’re applying to, the documents required may vary. The main requirement is the endorsement letter. You will need to fill out an application form to obtain an endorsement letter from an approved endorsing body. To obtain these, you will need to provide evidence that you have a strong amount of work and established experts to support your work. An applicant using a Prestigious Prize to qualify does not require an endorsement. This endorsement is the main requirement for proving your eligibility for the visa after which you can complete the visa application form.

What is the process?

To apply for this visa, there are two main steps: applying for endorsement from an organization that is recognized as an expert in your chosen field and then applying for the Global Talent Visa.

The endorsement letter is necessary to attest to the fact that you are a leader or potential leader in your field. To submit your application, you must visit the Visas and Immigration website of the UK Home Office

Depending on which field you will work in, the UK Home Office will forward your endorsement application to one of the “endorsement bodies” for review.

Once you receive your endorsement, you have to apply for a UK Visa by submitting the endorsement letter and any requested supporting documents.

How long would it take?

After completing your online application, providing your documents to your visa application centre and completing your biometrics, you should get a decision within 3 weeks however this is subject to the period as processing times may be long during periods of high volumes of applications to UKVI.

Your visa application centre may have priority or super-priority options to process your application faster. Priority visas take 3-5 business days to process whilst Super Priority takes a single business day.
