A Skilled Worker visa allows you to come to or stay in the UK for an eligible job with an approved employer who will sponsor you. This visa has replaced the Tier 2 (General) work visa. What documents do you need? 

 

  • your certificate of sponsorship reference number – your employer will give you
  • this
  • proof of your knowledge of English
  • a valid passport or other document that shows your identity and nationality
  • your job title and annual salary
  • your job’s occupation code
  • the name of your employer and their sponsor licence number – this will be on your
  • certificate of sponsorship

What are the requirements?

 

As of April 2024, the salary threshold for most new applicants is £38,700. This is an increase on the previous £26,200. A lower threshold of £30,960 applies for roles listed on the latest Immigration Salary List, or if the applicant is a new entrant to the labour market.

After completing your online application, providing your documents to your visa application centre and completing your biometrics, you should get a decision within 3 weeks however this is subject to the period as processing times may be long during high volumes of applications to UKVI. 

Your visa application centre may have priority or super-priority options to process your application faster. Priority visas take 3-5 business days to process whilst Super Priority takes a single business day.
